There are just a few techniques to use including the following |
The Squared square root like (2√3)2 This is very similar to how you would deal with (2x)2 = 4x2 (2√3)2 = 4√32 = 4x3 = 12 therefore (2√3)3= 2√3 * 2√3 * 2√3 = 12 * 2√3 = 24√3 (I hope?)

Common denominators This is just the same as dealing with a normal common denominator So with a problem like 8 divided by √3 - 1 plus 6 divided by √3 + 1 the common denominator would be √3 -1 * √3 + 1 = 3 - 1 = 2 so we end up with 8(√3 + 1) + 6(√3 - 1) divided by 2 = 8√3 + 8 + 6√3 - 6 divided by 2 = 14√3 + 2 divided by 2 = 7√3 + 1 |
Square Root Multiples √ab = √a * √b so with something like √6 * √8 we get √ 48 we can express this as √16 * √3 = √48 which can then be simplified to 4√3 |
